Is this a substitute for an avian vet?
No. Pullet's Hen Health Check helps you triage symptoms the way an experienced keeper would — it can tell you whether something is normal (broody, molting) or worth calling a vet about. For anything urgent or worsening, call a real avian vet. We always tell you when to.
How does it work?
You describe what you're seeing. We send the description to a large language model trained on a wide range of poultry-keeping knowledge, with strict instructions to default to caution and recommend a vet when appropriate. We save anonymous triages so the tool gets better over time.
What is Pullet?
Pullet is the flock log we're building for backyard chicken keepers — eggs, feed, health, family share — without the spreadsheet. The Hen Health Check is a free tool that demos what we mean by "actually built for keepers." More on the home page.
What if I don't know my hen's breed?
That's fine — leave it blank. Breed helps us calibrate (e.g., Silkies are prone to certain things), but the triage works without it.
Will my data be sold?
No. We store anonymized triage data to improve the model. We don't sell it, share it, or attach it to your email unless you tell us to.
